The 2015 NBA All Star Game concluded in New York city a couple of weeks ago. Next year’s game will hit North of the Border on the 6 side with Drake and friends in Toronto.
Here’s a solid question: Where will the 2017 NBA All Star Game be played?
Not with Mickey Mouse in Orlando, Florida according to NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver.
Speaking at the Orlando Magic’s Activation Summit today that brought together the team’s corporate partners to share practices and innovations, Sterling weighed in.
Per NBA.com:
Probably unlikely for 2017 only because the game was here in 2012 and there are some other teams that haven’t had an All-Star Game in a long time who are – if their bids are complete – would take priority because we’d like to share the wealth, so to speak.
The Orlando Magic and their state of the art Amway Center played host to the 2012 NBA All Star Game and many enjoyed the experience. Although the Orlando Magic would like to have hosted the NBA All Star Game in 2017, Commissioner Silver indicated that the team would be considered as soon as host as early as 2018.
Said Commissioner Silver:
Having said that, this was great experience down here in 2012 and I’m sure we won’t be waiting to go to 29 other teams before we come back here. Part of it is based on (the Magic’s) desire to have the game…
On February 1, Commissioner Silver celebrated one year as the NBA’s lead man in charge. His first term garnered high approval ratings after his ruling in banning Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling from the NBA and fining him $2.5 million after a recording surfaced of Sterling making racist comments directed at African Americans in a private conversation with his former girlfriend.
