In which sources believed that an event such as the 3 point contest is stacked with nothing but star power, the NBA has decided to elevate stardom to a all time high. Along with making his third all star game appearance, sources have officially confirmed that Cleveland Cavaliers star point guard Kyrie Irving will join the group of sharpshooters to contend for the Foot Locker NBA Three Point Contest at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Irving is shooting a impressive 40.9% from long range which is 4th best in the NBA. In addition, Kyrie has played a huge role with the Cavs recent hot streak they are currently on. During the streak, Kyrie was able to put up 55 points on Damian Lillard and the Portland Trailblazers as they defeated them 99-94.

In case you hoop followers may forgotten, Kyrie is no stranger to the spotlight to the NBA All Star weekend festivities. Back in 2013, the Jersey native was able to outshoot San Antonio Spurs spot up shooter Matt Bonner in front of millions of fans in the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. He later went on to claim his stamp as arguably  the best young guard in the league by taking home last year’s all star game MVP in New Orleans. Just to give you fans the heads up, don’t be surprised that Irving walks away with some more hardware as he proving to the world that he can pick up the scoring load for King James and the Cavs. In a event consisting of long range bombers such as Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, J.J. Redick, Kyle Korver and Wesley Matthews, this could be Irving’s greatest challenge to be thrown to the St. Patrick high school phenom. With the tri state ready and willing to see what he is going to do on the biggest stage of them all, will he fold under pressure or will he shine bright with the best of the best? Only time will tell as we are heading to the halfway mark for the 2015 NBA all star weekend.
