Believe it or not, Kobe was once just a regular guy with a Land Cruiser. Pssh. Yeah, right
It’s not every February you get to talk to Kobe Bryant outside of the Staples Center or the Lakers’ practice facility. It’s more than likely that Bryant is preparing his Lakers for a serious playoff run around this time, but this year, the Black Mamba is watching from the sidelines. His Lakers have been doomed from the onset of the regular season, and to add insult to injury, he tore his rotator cuff a few weeks ago, meaning for the third straight year, his season has been cut short.
To pass the time, Bryant took the time to visit an old friend, Jimmy Fallon, on The Tonight Show. Fallon reminds everyone that back when he was an aspiring comedian, he and Kobe Bryant were so insignificant to the Hollywood scene that they got sent on a beer run, and the vendor they went to had to be told that Kobe was a Laker so he would abandon his “delivery only” policy. Pretty amazing to see where these two ended up, and that they can still recount that story like it happened yesterday. This almost-mythical run happened in 1996.
