This isn’t your typical sneaker release, but you may have gathered that
Kanye West doesn’t do anything the “typical” way. The last time he aimed for radio success, he did so by combining the talents of everybody from Rihanna to Elton John, from Kid Cudi to Fergie. On one song (“All Of The Lights) nonetheless. So, now that he’s completed the first stage of implementing his revolutionary way of thinking into his immediate circle and the mind state of his fans–thanks in large part to the largely celebrated Yeezus album–he’s preparing to show off the fruits of that labor to the world, beginning with his last two records, “Only One” and “FourFiveSeconds,” and continuing with the release of his first shoe collaboration with his new umbrella, Adidas, called the Yeezy 750 boost. Part high fashion, part trendy trainer, Ye’s new kicks will undoubtedly be as popular, if not more popular, than his first two collaborations with Nike, most notably his Red Ocotober Nike Air Yeezy 2 shoes, which retailed Beyonce-style and Ebay’d for $10,000.
This time around, Kanye West says he’s mindful of the senseless crime that fevered sneaker heads can get involved in as they anticipate the release of limited edition shoes, so he promises that with a little patience, everybody will have the opportunity to get them hands on some 750’s–that’s catchy–but hopefully they have the bank. They aren’t going to come cheap. The Yeezy 750 Boosts are expected to retail at $350, more than twice the amount it would cost you to get your hands on recently retro’d Jordans on a Saturday morning.
Undoubtedly, the fact that Ye promises restocks sooner than later will ultimately lessen the impact resellers will have on third party websites like Ebay, Craigslist and the like, but some folks might have enough trouble coughing up the coins for retail.
