In 2010, every NBA team with the cap room and the feasible space on their roster were scrambling to come to a deal to bring one of several superstars to their city. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Amar’e Stoudemire were all courted by several teams, and we all know how that ended. Three of those guys formed the now infamous “Big 3” in Miami and brought back-to-back rings to Florida, and Stoudemire signed a max deal with the New York Knicks, and had an incredible first season–half of which he played with Carmelo Anthony, who was traded to the Knicks from the Nuggets in February of 2011–that had some people calling for him to win the NBA MVP award.

Since then, it’s been all downhill for Stoudemire. Injuries, a revolving head coach door and a body that becomes progressively more fragile with each season have all played a factor in Stoudemire’s decline, and it’s been an unfortunate past few seasons, and with a new hierarchy in NY, a decision on his status with the team was imminent, and as of last night, it’s been made.

According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, Stoudemire has been bought out by the Knicks, ending his tenure. Where could he land? We’re hearing a number of places, including the Clippers and the Mavericks. Sounds like Amar’e could be headed back out West.
