Future NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett waived his no-trade clause this week, which in turn shipped the former Brooklyn Nets forward to the team that drafted him in 1995, the Minnesota Timberwolves. The deal also included the Nets receiving the rights to Thaddeus Young before the NBA’s trading deadline.

The Timberwolves played last night in a 111-109 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Garnett did not play in the win. Although the Timberwolves head out on the road to play the Houston Rockets on Monday, T-Wolves fans will not get their first glimpse of the Big Ticket until Wednesday when they play John Wall, Paul Pierce, Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards at home at the Target Center.
“We are excited to have Kevin Garnett back in Minnesota and playing for the Timberwolves,” Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders said in a released statement.
“When people think of the Timberwolves they think of KG. He had some great years for us and our organization and fans really respect what he’s done here in Minnesota and throughout his NBA career. KG will bring his usual strong work ethic and leadership and be a positive influence for our young team.”
Following 12 seasons with Minnesota, Garnett joined the Boston Celtics along with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Garnett made a significant impact and won an NBA championship in 2008.
