“I know a girl from a lonely street, cold as ice cream but still as sweet” is the line from Blondie’s “Call Me” that describes exactly what the Sibling girl is about – she’s sophisticated yet young, she’s disco yet punk, she’s that girl who’s too cool for her own good.

Sibling is always fun and never conservative, but this season they’ve pushed the envelope even further with daring mohawks combined with neon knits and latex, making every bystander wish they could pull it off. Inspired by the teenage dream of the 80’s and Francis Bacon and Verner Panton, the looks down the runway were explosive in acid-bright colors complemented with chained brooches and necklaces. Sex appeal was channeled through the runway with shiny, polished latex paired with flowy Mongolian fur and cutaway knit patterns.

Down the runway, pieces looked more like costumes than coordinated dresses, with the exception of a few like the fair isle patterned vest combo. A highlight was a Punk-Rock look made modern featuring a blue lurex polo under a black denim jacket paired with a pencil skirt, fishnet tights, and chained scarf – a tailored look that’s easy on the eye yet calling for a second glance.

The soundtrack included Rock’n’Roll’s “Night Clubbing”, Chrisma’s “Black Silk Stocking”, and the most influential — Blondie’s “Call Me”, which was printed on a merino wool sweater as one of the final looks down the runway.

Backstage we had a chance to talk to Mac Cosmetics senior makeup artist Dominique:

“The look is inspired by 80’s club kids – it’s Blitz Club, it’s a little bit of Punk, so there’s this disco skin with a Punk punch to the eye. There’s a hollow, almost elongated gray tone to the outside edge of the eye to make it almost wider so there’s a manipulation of bone structure, and we’re deepening the contour as well to make it slightly bony and slightly hollow, but we’re doing it in a way that looks quite chic and quite elegant. So there’s this juxtaposition between grunge and glamor.”
