It was a star studded affair in Washington, D.C. for the 2015 BET Honors.

Kanye West, Usher, Phylicia Rashad and more were all honored by BET. The televised event aired Monday night (February 23) and the honorees were all awarded for their work in the arts, music, and acting. To prepare for the evening, BET went behind the scenes with the night’s special guests to pick their brains and ask them what they’re most inspired by and the process to achieve their goals.

Kanye, who was awarded the visionary award, spoke about the fight to get into the fashion world, and admitted he went $16 million into debt trying to get his clothing line off the ground.

“I was trying to play a sport that’s a billionaire sport. It’s not a millionaire sport and I’m proud of the debt. I don’t care about somebody’s Ghost (Phantom) or somebody’s house. I care about my vision.”
