The actor attended the 46th Annual NAACP Image Awards. Read what he had to say about being on Scandal, which was nominated for several awards.
What is it like being on Scandal this season?
It’s great. I love this show. I love these people, I love the words that the writers and Shonda Rhimes give me to say. As an actor that’s what you want, that’s what you look for. Something to sink your teeth into and they do that for us. I did an interview earlier and they said what’s the most exciting part of being here and I said, I get to see my cast. It’s so strange because I see them every day at work, but I love spending time with them. They’re good people.
Speaking of your cast, tonight Joe Morton is nominated for supporting role. Go ahead and tell us what’s that like, just having your cast mates out here?
Joe’s nominated, Guillermo Diaz is nominated, Kerry’s nominated, as is Scandal, so I’m here supporting a bunch of things. These people are all well deserving of these awards. Joe won last year, Kerry won last year, Scandal won last year. We’re hoping for a repeat, we’ll see what happens.
What’s the best Valentine’s gift you ever got?
The best gift I ever got was a photo book that my wife made the year after we had our first daughter. What do we have planned? I like to under play it so that there’s no expectations. Hopefully I’ll do something special.
