HBO announced which artists will be featured on “Catch the Throne: The Mixtape” as well as the release date.
Produced by Launch Point Records,”Catch the Throne: The Mixtape” will be dropping March 17 and will have 15 tracks with a medley of diverse and talented artists.The fifth season of “Game of Thrones” debuts April 12, at 9 p.m. on HBO and the mixtape will feature tracks related to themes and highlights from season 4. Each track samples various music from season 4’s soundtrack to best incorporate the ambiance and aesthetic of the show into the mixtape. The theme for this year’s mixtape is fire and ice and features heavy metal, hip-hop, R&B, electronic and Latin music. The full list of artists includes: Anthrax, Estelle, Kap G, Killswitch Engage, Mastodon, Melanie Fiona, Method Man, MNDR, Mushroomhead, Raquel Sofia, Snoop Dogg, Stalley, Talib Kweli, Ty Dolla $ign, and Yandel. Each and every artist is a personal fan of the show. Talib Kweli even said, “I am a big fan of the books and the series [and] as an MC, I’m not adverse to the concept of battles and ability to tell compelling stories and the Game of Thrones series does just that. It is the reason I wanted to be a part of this mixtape.”
