Kendrick is firing warning shots

On Friday, Kendrick Lamar sent a wave through the Hip-Hop world with an announcement that fans and critics have been awaiting for years. His sophomore album, whose title has been set but not revealed, will be released on March 23.

We’ve been offered several reminders of how talented the Compton emcee is, by way of his Grammy Award-winning single “i,” and his latest release, the Boi-1da-produced “The Blacker The Berry,” but this string of freestyles that he unleashed on Big Boy‘s first show on The Real 92.3 may be the most necessary. On the 18th anniversary of the legendary Biggie Smalls‘ death, Kendrick rapped over several of Big’s instrumentals, and didn’t take any prisoners.
