Tuesday night was filled with chaos and confusion when a shooting happened on the subway platform that left one man dead. According to the NY Daily News, a 69-year old man who was a retired corrections officer began arguing with two men on the 4 train heading to Brooklyn, one of them 32 year old Gilbert Drogheo. While on the train, the three men harassed the older man. According to witnesses, one of the men said, ” Oh I Got You Now N****”. The older man said, “I’m Not Your N****, I’m Not Your Boy.” said the witness.
As people were getting off the train, one of the two men punched a retired corrections officer in the head. As the older man was trying to leave the subway station, he approached Drogheo. The two men began fighting and the retired corrections officer shot Drogheo. Drogheo was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital Center where he died.
The second man involved in the the fight on the train has not been identified as yet but was arrested. After the shooting, the corrections officer was held for questioning, but according to a high ranking police source, the man is a licensed gun-holder and may not be charged.
