Renowned producer Jermaine Dupri recently interviewed with the Associated Press, who asked him questions on his perspective on current issues in the industry, like the highly publicized court case between Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and Marvin Gaye‘s family on the basis of copyright infringement. Dupri speaks and says that he completely understands both sides.

“Younger producers like myself and Pharrell, we make records that are influenced by other records that are out there,” says Dupri. Regarding the “Blurred Lines” ruling Dupri proceeds to say, “I believe the same thing has happened to me.”

Dupri thinks Ciara‘s latest single, “I Bet,” is dangerously similar to Usher‘s “U Got It Bad,” which Dupri produced in 2001. The Atlanta producer plans to contact Ciara to make sure credit goes where credit is due.
