Lil Wayne is having serious troubles with getting a release date for his long-awaited new album, Tha Carter V, due to label issues with Birdman and Cash Money Records. In the meantime, Birdman’s newer project, Young Thug, one-third of Baby’s Rich Gang trio, has been given the green light to call his new album Carter 6.

A tweet from Lyor Cohen‘s 300 label–where Young Thug is currently officially housed–confirmed the title earlier today, sending the internet into a confused frenzy. Young Thug and Lil Wayne have been known to have a good relationship–the two released their highly-anticipated collaboration, “Take Kare,” last year–but chances are this isn’t going to sit well with Weezy. Especially considering the fact that he can’t even get his own album off the ground, and Baby is giving out follow-up titles to rap affiliates of his not named Dwayne Carter.

Let’s see if this sticks. If it does, it’ll be one of the more awkward record release situations in recent memory. In the meantime, Thug is previewing new music off his upcoming album on his Instagram, and of course, the record he previewed is a remix of Lil Wayne’s “Grindin,” released last year, which features Drake. You can check out the preview via the IG link in Young Thug’s tweet below.
