Last week, two Missouri police officers who were in Ferguson almost met their fate when they were shot by an unknown assailant. Ferguson police did not stop until they found the suspect, Jeffrey Williams, 20. Williams is saying that he did not mean to shoot the police officers during protests.
According to Blackamericaweb, Williams defense attorney, Jerryl Christmas is claiming that Williams not only did not target the police officers, but also was assaulted at the time of his arrest leaving him with multiple bruises on his back, shoulders, face and a knot on his head. Ferguson police spokesperson Brian Schellman is calling the accusations of abuse false. Schellman says that Williams was seen by a nurse before being booked into county jail and did not appear to have anything wrong with him when he was being booked.
Williams told investigators that he was not targeting police officers but rather a person he had a dispute with. Williams was in court Monday and has been charged with felony assault, armed criminal action, and weapons offense. Williams next court appearance will be March 31st.
