Corona emcee Thruway, laces us with his latest and really dope visual to “Load Up the Mic.”  A solid record that hip-hop heads can appreciate.  Thru’s rhymes and vocals, complimented by great production, reminds me of a supreme period in time that I tremendously miss.  The 90’s were definitely some of the greatest years in hip-hop.  Many of us  today are still influenced by what’s considered a classic era.  This is where producer SPKilla displays that, by sampling classic Nas records, pairing them with boom bap, and adding a little new school flavor.

With a strong emphasis on establishing himself as a Latin identity in the hip-hop community, some of Thru’s major influences are Big Pun and Juju of the Beatnuts; Pun, for being the first Latin rapper to go platinum while still remaining true to the game and culture, and Juju for being the first Latin emcee to get signed from Corona, Queens.  Growing up in New York City, he couldn’t help but to be influenced by his surroundings, so you can hear real life ish reflected in his lyrics.

Hip-Hop is alive and well, regardless of the clowns that try to damage the culture with their foolery music.  There are numerous emcees who take pride in the art and elements of this thing we love.  It’s our job to pay attention and support what we find dope.

Thruway and SPKilla got heat coming this summer; make yourselves aware, Corona’s putting in work.
