According to Associated Press, Rodney Todd Sr., 36, of Princess Anne bought a generator after his utilities were shut off because of unpaid bills. The generator went out, and carbon monoxide filled the house, killing the father and his seven children. Officers found the bodies of Todd and his 7 children, ranging in age from 6 to 16.

Police officers say that when they found the generator, it had ran out of fuel. A utility firm covering Maryland and Delaware are investigating the incident as well. The parents of Todd were informed that the father and his children had died of carbon monoxide, but was waiting for the official cause of death from the medical examiner.
