Phoenix Suns players Marcus and Markieff Morris seem to have gotten themselves in a sticky situation. The Morris twins have reportedly assaulted a man who sent “inappropriate” text messages to their mother. The man who says that he was assaulted by the former Kansas University stars is Erik Hood.
Hood, a talent scout, tells Phoenix Police that he had been a mentor to the Morris twins and supported them financially when they were pursuing a professional basketball career as high school students in Philadelphia. Hood tells authorities that one night in January–outside a youth basketball game the Morris twins have admitted they attended–he was struck in the back of the head by one of the three people Markieff and Marcus were with. In the police report, Hood alleged that the Morris brothers did take part in the attack. Witnesses of the attack tell police they saw five people flee in a Rolls-Royce Phantom, but they weren’t able to identify any of the attackers.
No charges or arrest have been made in the alleged assault, but with the Phoenix Suns all but mathematically eliminated from playoff contention this year they’ll have plenty of time to cooperate with this ongoing investigation.
