“Through it all, be sure to rise back up when you fall, even if you drop the ball, sometimes it’s like that ya’ll”
I feel as though there’s so much to discover when it comes to TN emcee, Tim Gent. Â The reason I say this, is because after hearing this record, I’m looking forward to what he brings to hip-hop. Â We went through a stage where real music didn’t matter as much as the regular ol senseless ish. Â Not to say that street hop isn’t ill, because it is, we can still agree that when an emcee contributes quality to the culture, we hold it in high regard. Â Well at least, that’s how I, as a fan of good music, feel about hip-hop.
In the last year, conscious music has taken an inconceivable turn for the best. Â From J Cole being the first artist to go platinum in over 25 years, with no features, to Kendrick Lamar‘s, To Pimp a Butterfly, still holding the #1 spot on the Billboard 200. Â It’s pretty clear that everyone’s paying attention to what really matters.
I’d like to place Tim in a great category, as far as content, it’s all very relevant and refreshing. Â The pairing of his voice and wordplay is nice, but not only does he spit dope rhymes, he also sings and sounds good at it. Â On this record, he has background vocals by Drisana DeSpain to compliment his voice on the hook. Â The melody is tight as well as the production by Clarksville, producer, HD.
The overall vibe is real fly and authentic. Â We’re feeling it and look forward to Clarksville Nights when it drops April 22nd!
