Today HBO announced “Bessie’s 81 Theatre Tour.”
Bessie which airs on May 16 stars Queen Latifah, Michael Kenneth Williams, Khandi Alexander, Mike Epps, Tory Kittles, Tika Sumpter, Charles S. Dutton, Oscar winner Mo’Nique and more. The invite-only event series will highlight local music acts in each city and also offer students and aspiring musicians the chance to hone their skills, with top songwriter Stacy Barthe and mega producer Brian Michael Cox. Cox and Barthe will also participate in a Q&A during the private workshop. Each event will conclude with a private dinner, followed by a performance by an A-List artist. DJ D-Nice will supply the tunes.
