Vic Mensa has officially signed with Roc Nation.

The news was confirmed via a tweet from Jay Z‘s Twitter account, which simply read “Roc Nation Records x @VicMensa,” and included an iTunes link to Vic’s new single, “U Mad,” which features fellow Roc Nation artist Kanye West.

Vic’s ascent to stardom has been steady, but relatively quick. After a lengthy stint as the frontman for “trap rock” band Kids These Days, which almost resulted in a record deal, Mensa went solo, and released his first–and only–solo project, INNANETTAPE, in September of 2013. Since then, he’s collaborated with Kaytranada, his close friend Chance The Rapper, and dropped an internationally successful single, “Down On My Luck,” but most notably, has joined forces with Kanye West for two collaborations, and appeared on several huge stages alongside the G.O.O.D. Music headmaster.

By the way, he was featured in The Source‘s October 2013 issue as Unsigned Hype. Listen to “U Mad” here.
