This Western Illinois linebacker is doing more than just “giving back”
Every year, the NCAA shines the spotlight on various college athletes that are making a difference in their communities and it goes without saying, Western Illinois University has a outstanding individual playing football that deserves to be mentioned. Meet linebacker Jordan “JJ” Veloz, the linebacker who will make a donation in the form of a bone marrow transplant to an infant who is suffering from a serious and rare immune disorder.
JJ, 20, participated in a bone marrow registry last year and recently was contacted to let know that he is a match the young infant. Via Associated Press, he stated, “It hasn’t really hit me yet, but I feel like I am just doing what I should do.” ” But there are times I stop and think, ‘Wow, it is all in my hands.” Good to see NCAA athletes making a bigger difference in their communities everyday. Hopefully, more athletes see this story and decide to make more postive lasting impacts on their communities.
