Ford issued four recalls on Wednesday and previously, an earlier recall on Friday.
Three of those recalls involved the 2014 Ford Fusion which is one of the most popular car models from that year. During this week, there have been many safety officials expressing concern over whether or not recalls are being issued, and whether vehicles are being fixed in a timely manner.
The Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Ford Fiesta, and Ford Edges are all among the vehicles that have been recalled. The largest of the recalls were the 520,000 Ford Fusions and Lincoln MKZs from 2013 to 2015, along with some of the 2015 Ford Edges due to problems with the steering gear motor that could eventually result in a loss of power steering. The Ford Fiesta was also recalled due to mechanical problems that could cause the car’s doors to suddenly pop open, or not close properly.
2 customers have experienced such problems. One customer said they were hit with their car’s doors when the doors bounced back while the customer attempted to close them. Another customer says a door that appeared to be closed shut swung open to hit another parked car. Ford also recalled 2014-2015 Fiestas for fuel pump issues that cause the pump to seize and the car to stall while in motion.
