A complete breakdown of this week’s Hip-Hop sales.
Yelawolf’s rap/country crossover, Love Story, topped the hip-hop chart this week, selling 55,360 copies, and 61,360, including streams. Compared to his debut studio-album, Radioactive, which reached 41,000 first-week sales in 2011, this is an increase of nearly 15,000 units.
As expected, sales of Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late rose enormously due to physical copies of the album finally hitting retailers on April 21st. IYRTITL sold 25,645 units this week, which is an 107% increase from last week. With streams, this total nearly doubles, reaching 47,226 sales.
Debuting on the chart this week is Curren$y’s latest project, Even More Saturday Night Car Tunes. Including streams, Spitta pushed 10,840 units, thanks to support from his loyal fanbase and some rare Twitter promotion from Lil Wayne. This release followed Curren$y’s free album Pilot Talk III, which hit the internet earlier this month.
Despite receiving critical acclaim from various online publications, Young Thug’s Barter 6 hasn’t quite lived up to expectations on the charts. This week, Barter 6 sold 7,288 digital copies, a decrease of 56% from last week’s debut. At this point, it’s safe to say his ongoing beef with Lil Wayne has hurt, rather than helped, his album sales.
