Seeing Jennifer Lopez take the stage with Los Dinos brought back memories from what really set her career off, the biopic of Selena Quintanilla – Perez.  As soon as she approached, I was expecting something epic, and she indeed delivered.  Watching her dance and interact with the AB, Chris, and Suzy, live, brought back so many bittersweet moments.  We can all agree that J.Lo portrayed the role of the  iconic beauty, Selena, phenomenally in the movie about her  life, and on Thursday night, as the photos and footage of the fallen Tejano singer flashed the screen, Jennifer rocked her tribute with style.

She set it off with Selena’s hit, “Como La Flor” and continued to honor the Queen of Tex-Mex with several of her most popular records, which included, “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom”, “Amor Prohibido”, “Dreaming of You” and my personal all time favorite, which she sang quite well, “No Me Queda Mas”.  Throughout her performance, you can see the emotion she was feeling, particularly during the last song.  I noticed the glossy eyes and her expressions were easy to distinguish.  The audience, which included Gregory Nava, the director of Selena, was emotional as well.

This is something Jennifer has very much wanted to do and her appreciation for Selena and the Quintanilla family was indubitably shown Thursday on Telemundo.

“People like that don’t come along every day, there is never going to be another Selena”  – J.Lo
