I’m always complaining that producers don’t get the same love as emcees or singers. And it doesn’t become more obvious when a producer like Maths Time Joy works with a talented young emcee like Que Hampton. The Kent producer (that’s South East England) doesn’t simply let a loop ride for almost five minutes. Instead, after the New York emcee writes the love letter you wish you wrote, Maths gets busy on the synth and turns a sample of Que’s voice into another instrument for the beat. Be sure to listen until the very end to catch a ballad fit for a 21st century king.

“Sanctuary” will be on Maths Time Joy’s upcoming EP. You may recognize Que Hampton’s name from appearing on tracks with our Unsigned Hype alumnus, Bishop Nehru.
