If you’re reading this, and you haven’t yet heard, streamed or purchased R.F.C.‘s The Outsiders album, you’ve done yourself a serious disservice. Those yearning for gritty, unapologetic New York Hip-Hop need to look no further than Smoke DZA‘s boom-bap collective, featuring one Mr. NYM Lo, who has dropped a new banger, “Feds,” for your listening pleasure.

The Don D-produced cut finds Lo where he’s most comfortable, using a minimally invasive drum line to host a moody hook before diving into a couple of menacing verses, neither of which sell short on wit or punchlines.

Never needed favors all I needed was a razor
Chopped the block down yeah, I gave that rock a shape-up

If you find yourself hoping there’s more where this comes from, you’re in luck. Though this song won’t appear on the final tracklist, Lo will be dropping his long-awaited new solo project, The #EverythingLO LP, this summer, which will be entirely produced by 183rd, who was prominently featured on R.F.C.’s The Outsiders. In the meantime, bang this through your speakers.
