Long Island idiot tells his fellow residents to go where the people ‘look like you’
Police are using fingerprints and other methods to investigate who sent 37-year old Ronica Copes and her family the following letter, which basically urges them to leave their Lindenhurst, L.I. home for good, in favor of a neighborhood where there are “more people like you.’
“Sorry if this is rude, but it’s the truth,” concludes the ridiculous, racist letter. Ms. Copes found the letter in her mailbox in Thursday.
Ronica’s husband, Darcell, said he felt anger, hurt, and eventually fear upon reading the letter, but he disclosed that their community has provided an outpouring of support, unlike the author of the note.
There is no place for intolerance in Suffolk County. I know the Suffolk County Police Department will do everything possible to solve this hate crime, out you and see you punished,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Ballone. He was later joined by elected officials of Lindenhurst, who released the following statement in support of the Copeses.
The best way to fight bias is with solidarity and we stand with all of our residents in declaring that there is no place for this type of intolerance and hatred in the Village of Lindenhurst, the Town of Babylon, or anywhere in our community. We are, and always will be, a strong diverse community that does not cede ground to hostility, ignorance, or hatred, wherever it may appear.
Despite being overcome with the aforementioned emotions, Darcell Copes has adopted a “turn the other cheek” mentality.
“I’ll continue to pray for you and you need to get out and meet people.”
