RZA is working on an inspirational, musical drama called It Doesn’t Have To Rhyme with Azealia Banks and Common. Banks will play a female rapper who discovers a passion for slam poetry after signing up for this poetry class. Common would be her mentor, and Jill Scott will play a narrow minded professor who doesn’t believe that rap and slam poetry can coexist.

The theme is supposed to be similar to 8 Mile with Eminem, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It’s unclear whether that means Banks will be battle rapping or it will be a rag to riches story. We’ll have to wait to find out.

Production begins this week in New York City.
