Patriots have release LB Brandon Spikes this morning for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident over the weekend. Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report writes that the invention is to determine if Spikes’ car was involved in a crash that sent three people to the hospital. Spikes is subject to an investigation after his Maybach was found abandoned and damaged Sunday in Foxborough, Massachusetts, per Laurel J. Sweet of the Boston Herald.

No charges have been filed against Spikes at this time, but police indicated a full report on the accident should be expected Monday. According to Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal, State Trooper Matt Guarino stated, “If the charges don’t come out tonight…something will probably be coming out [Monday].”
Spikes, 27, was signed by the Patriots just last month to a one-year 2 million dollar deal after spening last season with the Buffalo Bills. This seems to be the end of a “interesting” relationship between Spikes and the Patriots. The Patriots drafted Spikes out of the University of Florida in the 2010 draft. Spikes spent his first four seasons in New England. Spikes’ was allowed to signed with the Bills because of his inability to cover players in space. Wanting to restart his career a return to the Patriots seem like the best choice. He will have to look for work else where.
