Yesterday marks the first day of a new revolution of US Women’s Soccer. The females sporting the legendary red, white and blue began their quest for their first World Cup title since 1999 on Monday. Coming into this year’s World Cup that’s located in Canada, Team USA is currently the #2 team in the world and experts are expecting this squad to bring home the title. Bringing back a nice core of veterans such as Christine Rapinoe, Shannon Boxx, Hope Solo and Abby Wachbach to go with some special up and comers such as Morgan Brien and Julie Johnston, all eyes will be on the Americans to help elevate their influence on the  soccer game with their expected world cup dominance.  This year, FIFA has decided to place the Yanks into Pool D, as they will be competing for a spot to advance to the next round with other nations such as Nigeria, Sweden and Australia. Their first test was against Australia and they passed with flying color as they won 3-1. Christine Rapinoe became the second player since her teammate Wachbach (2007) to score 2 goals in a World Cup game. Despite the off field distractions of the Department of Justice cracking down on the FIFA scandal and Hope Solo’s domestic violence charge still pending, it’s safe to say the Superwomen of soccer are ready to bring home the gold and to prove to the world that they can bend it like Beckham.
