Almost 12 years ago we got the action-packed follow-up to Bad Boys which featured mega-stars, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence and according to Sony the third movie to the franchise may be coming sooner than people think. It is reported with Michael Bay (who directed the first two movies) out as the director, Sony Pictures is in talks with Joe Carnahan to rewrite and direct the existing script by David Guggenheim. Known for movies such as the cop drama Narc, The Grey, A-Team and episodes of The Blacklist, Joe Caraham is no stranger to action flicks and has the ability to revive the franchise.

It is also reported that the film will be officially underway once Will Smith is done with production on the DC Comics film Suicide Squad. Sony wants to speed up the process and have the film out in theaters some time in 2016. It will be interesting to see if Sony can pull this off on such short notice.
