Lance Stephenson was the enigmatic mid-1st round draft pick that eventually turned into a triple-double machine that was instrumental to the Indiana Pacers’ two Eastern Conference Finals runs in 2013 and 2014, but quickly fell out of favor. As a free agent, he signed with the Charlotte Hornets, and was expected to be a cornerstone to a young core of Kemba Walker and Al Jefferson that had made the playoffs in 2014. However, Stephenson and the Hornets struggled, and the Hornets didn’t qualify for postseason play this season.

Today, several reports have confirmed that Stephenson’s run in Charlotte only lasted a year, and he’s been traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for Matt Barnes and Spencer Hawes. Stephenson adds an offensive and defensive presence to the Clippers already potent starting lineup, and if he can return to his 2014 playoff form of 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists a game, the Clippers might be able to get over the hump and advance to the Western Conference Finals next year.
