Childish Gambino is set to voice the teen aged spiderman, Miles Morales, in upcoming series Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors. 

Brian Bendis, writer and co-creator of new animated Spider man series, explained to the Daily News the reason for the superhero’s race change:

Many kids of color who, when they were playing superheroes with their friends, their friends wouldn’t let them be Batman or Superman, because they don’t look like those heroes but they could be Spider-Man because anyone could be under the mask.

Talk about progression.

The series is set to premiere Sunday, August 31st on Disney XD.
