Escaped New York Prisoner Shot and Killed in Malone, NY

A 20-day manhunt comes to an end for one of the infamous criminals

The Daily Beast, citing “knowledgeable law-enforcement sources,” is reporting that Richard Matt, one of the two men that charmed a prison guard into helping them escape an upstate New York prison on June 6, has been shot and killed by law enforcement. The New York Times is also reporting that the fugitive has been killed.

The incident took place near Lake Titus, New York, which has been searched and scrutinized by several teams of law enforcement over the past week. Police originally ended up in that are after suspicions that the two men had broken into a nearby cabin arose.
