Kanye West‘s support of Young Thug dates back to early 2014, when Yeezus reportedly invited Thug to his house to record music, and could be seen at numerous venues drunk-dancing to Thug’s infectious breakout single, “Danny Glover.” Today, via Thug’s cover story interview with Rolling Out, it appears that he’s taken that support a step further, and maybe a bit too far.

According to Young Thug, when he and Kanye West ran into each other backstage at a show at the Staples Center, Thug played him some unreleased music, which prompted Kanye to make an uncanny comparison. From Rolling Out:

But he came on tour with Travis Scott and me. [Kanye] said he has a phone now because he has a wife. So he had to get a phone. But he called me Bob Marley. We [were] backstage at one of the tour dates at the Staples Center in L.A. and Kanye was backstage. He had a Beats Pill and was like, ‘I wanna hear all of your music in the world that’s not out.’ So I was letting him hear all the music. Then he said I was like Bob Marley and he wanted to do an album with me.

So, not only did Ye compare Thug to Bob Marley, but he claimed he wants to do an album with the controversial Atlanta artist. This all sounds very far-fetched, but it wouldn’t be Kanye news if it weren’t.
