Well, there goes that awesome picture.
Disney announced Friday that the popular tech gadget is no longer allowed in their theme parks. In a statement, Disney’s spokesperson Kim Prunty said:
“We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family and unfortunately selfie sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast.”
The ban starts on Tuesday at the Walt Disney Theme Park in Florida and Disneyland in California, along with other Disney-run amusement parks in the U.S. On July 1st, the ban takes full effect in Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland. This is actually the second ban that Disney had to make in regards to the stick. Previously, they had to ban the stick on rides such as Magic Kingdom’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain. They had to stop the ride numerous amounts of times because of vistors taking the stick out during the ride.
The sticks are already banned in many places such as the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, London’s National Gallery, the Coachella music festival just to name a few.
