Seventh shark victim in North Carolina is recovering while law officials are considering investigating what’s going on underwater
The shark tales in North Carolina continue to grow, but there is nothing fictional about this dangerous matter as the 7th victim of a monstrous shark attack had to be airlifted to a hospital yesterday afternoon.
The Boston Herald’s former editor in chief, Andrew Costello was severely injured after he tried to fend off a seven foot shark with an appetite for severe destruction along the Atlantic coast.
Costello, who is now doing better as reported by his family, was bitten on his left side, in his lower leg and hip and on both his hands around 12:13 p.m., Hyde County EMS Director Justin Gibbs told ABC News. He was swimming waist deep into the ocean and enjoying an afternoon on the beach with his son when the shark attempted to devour him.
Florida Program Director for Shark Research, George Burgess said, “The alarming number of attacks in North Carolina is an extremely dangerous situation right now.”
Burgess and law officials are calling for many of the waterfront communities to close the beaches considering the amount of people who will be coming for 4th of July. Greg Skomal of the Massachusetts Division of Marine agrees stating that, “With this high number of attacks over such a short period of time, there is clearly something going on in that area worthy of looking into.”
