It has been reported the distribution of Ku Klux Klan flyers in a predominately Black neighborhood in North Charleston occurred last week
Residents in the Dorchester Waylyn community of North Charleston, SC have been spotting KKK flyers around their neighborhood starting last week. The flyer claims to have been put out by the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan and reads:
You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake.”
It then promotes the website and a hotline to call for further information and an option to apply. This type of racist propaganda comes after the Confederate flag was taken down from the Statehouse lawn and some groups are now expressing their alternative agenda. It has been reported that a Ku Klux Klan protest will take place this Saturday in front of the SC Statehouse building protesting the flags’ removal.
Hate and racism are ideologies that can’t necessarily be changed when embedded in the culture and minds of a group; however, this type of thinking should not be tolerated when the human rights of people have been continuously violated.
