Rising London singer/songwriter/musician, Johnson Orchid, returns with a bewitching, slow-burning opus, “Dance It Off,” following the break-out success of previous single “Girl,” which premiered on SBTV and received love from BBC 1Xtra and MOBO Awards, among others. “Dance It Off” is an enchanting tale of a young woman who seeks out the dance floor as her way to escape the pain and heartbreak of the world. Orchid weaves his distinct melodies and captivating lyrics through vibrant acoustic guitars and chilled-out drums provided by producer, Mr. DaMention (Floacist, Jermaine Riley).

This is the perfect setting for this all-too-relatable story of emotional struggle, which Orchid says also provides a different viewpoint of nightclubs. While clubs have the perception of promiscuity, he says that “most of the time, girls just want to live in their moment and dance the night away, without any unwarranted expectations.” Johnson Orchid’s year has been exceptional so far, but it’s poised to be even bigger in the coming months. He’s touring schools and universities this autumn while wrapping up collaborations with the likes of Scorcher, Mikey SOS (Tinie Tempah, Emeli Sande), and P2J (Trey Songz, Stormzy). For now, you can hear his latest single, “Dance It Off,” below.
