Several people have been injured and three dead in a string of shootings across the five boroughs from Friday evening into early Saturday

A wave of gun violence began Friday night in NYC when two women were grazed by bullets near Foster and Albany avenues in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. A 23-year-old woman was nicked on the arm and a second woman, 53, was grazed on the leg when a gunman opened fire near Paerdegat Park in Canarsie, Brooklyn around 7:45 P.M.

Hours later, a 29-year-old man was then shot in the face around 11:30 p.m. Friday across the street from Amersfort Park on East 38th Street near Avenue I in Flatlands.

Three people were hit in a Bronx shooting inside the Space Time Playground at Bolton Avenue and Lafayette Street in Soundview around 1:30 A.M. 20-year-old Christian Garcia was fatally shot in the chest, a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 17-year-old girl was shot in the butt, according to police.

Then at 1:40 A.M. Saturday, 24-year-old Donnell Smith was murdered at Canarsie’s Glenwood Houses along East 56th Street near Avenue H with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Police recovered 44 spent rounds of ammo at the scene.

Three more people were wounded at Parkside Court near Parkside Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn around 2 A.M. Saturday, where a 34-year-old man was shot in the leg, and the 47-year-old man was shot in the foot. Soon after, an 18-year-old woman walked into King County Hospital with a wound to the left thigh.

About 25 minutes later, a group of men opened fire at a Stanley Avenue house party in East New York after an argument. Six women were struck in the legs and arms and three men were hit—one in the neck during the incident. They were all taken to area hospitals and are expected to survive. According to police, four others were hauled away by EMS for injuries sustained by flying lead.

At the same time, a 46-year-old man was shot multiple times in Brooklyn in the Whitman Houses courtyard. According to officials, he was pronounced dead at Methodist Hospital.

In Coney Island around 3 A.M., a 36-year-old man took a bullet to the hand during a suspected robbery attempt near West 23rd Street and Neptune Avenue. The victim is listed in stable condition at Lutheran Medical Center.

Also in Brooklyn, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the stomach in a drive-by shooting in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens around 3:45 A.M. on Flatbush Avenue and Lincoln Road.

The police say the hot weather is one cause for the hot tempers and gun violence, as one source said,

You have summer weather, young men, alcohol and competition for pretty girls and the guns come out.”
