NYC’s best DJs decided to trade in the turntables for some basketball shorts and sneakers!!
This past Saturday, The Source Sports was in attendance to witness a celebration like no other. In honor of paying homage to the 25th Anniversary of the Nike Dyckman Basketball League, AKOO and Hard 2 Guard have teamed up to organized their 1st Annual “Battle Of The DJs” Game. Sponsored by Gatorade, IceBerg Guards, A List Transportation, Ciroc, Dusse , Icelandic Water, and Mountain Dew, The Battle Of The DJs event brought a packed crowd and some of NYC’s best DJs as they were able to show that they can hoop as well as rock the party. MTV’s own Sway made a appearance as he was one of the coaches for Team Hard 2 Guard which consists of notable stars such as street ball legend Adrian “A Butta” Walton, Dipset’s OG Jim Jones, DJ Ted Smooth (Love On Top Remix), DJ Spinking and DJ Flipstar (Chicken Noodle Soup.) On Team AKOO, the notable stars who suited up were Power 105.1’s own DJ Clue, DJ Absolute and street ball legend Antwan “Antifreeze” Doobie. At the end it was Team Hard 2 Guard who prevailed with the win with a score of 82-78. Queen’s own DJ Superstar Jay was named MVP of the game.
The Source Sports was able to catch up with one of the organizers in this dope event. Edgar Burgos of Hard 2 Guard Media Productions was able to take some time out to talk about the turn out of the event. He said this to say
It was great seeing Dj’s doing something they love to do besides rocking the party or show at your favorite venues in New York City.
