Last week, Nike decided to make a major push and was able to sign newcomers Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell to a lucrative deal to join the billion dollar sneaker force. adidas have decided to deliver a nice counter punch by offering James Harden a $200 million dollar deal to make him one of their leading faces of the 3 stripe company. After Nike deciding not to match the offer, Harden has decided to partner up with adidas and signed a 13 year, $200 million dollar deal. With this deal being done, the 3-time All Star is one of the top 5 highest paid endorsed NBA players.

After the deal became official, adidas spokesman Michael Ehrlich released a statement to the public on why such a huge offer for the MVP runner-up. He had this to say

We’ve invited James Harden to join Adidas. We’re a brand of creators and he truly embodies what that means with his approach to the game, his look and his style on and off the court. He’s coming off a historic season where he won the scoring title and was voted MVP by his peers. His connection with fans is unparalleled and unprecedented and he can take the game, our brand and the industry to new heights.

Harden joins a elite list of ballers who wears adidas on and off the court in which all of them are NBA all stars. Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, Washington Wizards point guard John Wall, and Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard are the other NBA superstars who adidas signed to their company. Congratulations James, welcome to the 3 stripes club and may the force be with you.
