The NBA is fining the Los Angeles for violating NBA rules
Today, the NBA has officially announced that it will in fact fine the Clippers $250,000 for violating NBA rules. Adding another page to the so-called “DeAndre Jordan Saga”, the NBA is fining the Clippers for violating NBA rules by offering a third-party endorsement and presenting the opportunity to DeAndre Jordan on July 2nd. According to Los Angeles Times reporter Broderick Turner the endorsement was reportedly with Lexus.
According to the NBA’s anti-circumvention rules, the league prohibits teams from arranging or providing any type of compensation to a player unless it’s included in a player contract or included in their collective bargaining agreement. There is not much news or sources confirming if Jordan accepted the money, but according to the NBA it didn’t have an impact on his decision to re-sign and stay with the Clippers organization.
