El Chapo has allegedly slipped through authorities’ fingers once again.
The escaped former Mexican drug lord was reported to be in a car accident in Tabasco by several Mexican publications, after which he was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated.
Naturally, federal troops were immediately alerted, but they were a step behind Chapo, whose real name is Joaquin Guzman. According to The Latin Times, a medical report indicated that “the subject”–which would be, in this case, El Chapo–asked to be released at his request, and the hospital officials actually obliged.
The hospital’s director has downplayed the validity of these reports, but he certainly has reason to. The idea that one of the most wanted men in the world was sitting in his hospital and was allowed to leave on his own accord is reason to be embarrassed.
El Chapo lives on.
