Former Big Ten standout and Michigan State Alum Draymond Green gives back
Taking a break from dominating the hardwood, Draymond Green decided to share some of that big contract extension money he got earlier this year and donate $3.1 Million dollars to his alma mater Michigan State University. The current Golden State Warrior and World-Champion donated a hefty couple million to his school’s athletic department.
In a statement referring to the donation, Green stated:
“I grew up in Saginaw and was lucky enough to attend Michigan State University where coach (Tom) Izzo believed in me and gave me the chance to succeed. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my Spartan experience and this donation reflects my deep appreciation to the University. This donation isn’t just about me. I want more kids to have the opportunities I had thanks to Michigan State and want to use this to stimulate all Spartans to give back to the best university in the world.”
Draymond’s gesture will help continue fundraising efforts for the Spartan Fund for MSU Athletics and help them reach their $262 million goal as part of their Empower Extraordinary campaign. As of now, Draymond Green’s donation is the largest of a student athlete in the school’s history. Good to see athletes give back to the schools that helped hone their skills which got them to the highest level of playing.
