Amongst avant-garde looks and inventively proportioned clothing items, Shayne Oliver creative director of Hood By Air seems to have taken inspiration from a retro and classic Nike model with the creation of a new pair of Woman’s heels. At the recent Hood By Air New York Fashion week show, models strutted down the runway donning multiple color-ways of heeled shoes with the word “AIR” highly visible on the side panelings. Sneaker enthusiasts and people paying attention to kicks in the mid 90s remember the Nike Air More Uptempo with admiration and reverence. Chicago Bulls Scottie Pippen chose the Uptempo as his signature sneaker and the shoes transitioned successfully to massive off court appeal. Hood By Air has a history of reinterpreting classic Nike models, earlier this year the brand meshed classic Nike Huarache like tooling with the storied Timberland boot construction.

Shayne Oliver decided to pair his creatively invigorated designs with new showings of officially branded Nike Air sneakers as well, outfitting both female and male models in the Nike Air Flight 89. The Flight 89 was briefly available on Nike ID last year. The first sneaker to bear the “Air Flight” title, 1989’s air flight displayed an innovative design and completely influenced the coveted Air Jordan 4 with it’s distinct look and striking midsole. Hood By Air as a brand has always melded the worlds of streetwear and urban style with a high fashion detail and presentation, dedicating itself to an aesthetic a host of other designers also used this recent New York Fashion week.
