For the most part, any tension between Russell Wilson/Ciara and Future has blown over, save the relentless trolling by fans of both parties on social media. The interviews and comparisons have died down, and with the football season back in full swing, surely, attention is being directed towards Wilson’s performance on the field, as opposed to off of it.

Well, apparently, this soap opera has even spilled over to the field. The Seahawks’ DJ, DJ DV One, has admitted that while players consistently want to hear music from Future’s latest album, DS2, on the field during games, he feels “weird” about playing some of the Atlanta rapper’s records in an interview with Billboard.

Among the players, last year it was Drake and Rick Ross. This year, I’ve been getting a lot of requests for Future. But that dynamic is weird too, because I can barely play Future with Ciara running around and that’s her baby’s dad. It’s just that he has a dope-[expletive] album out right now, players like to hear it, it definitely gets you pumped up—even though it’s low-tempo, it’s still stuff that you want to hear—and then you’ve got Ciara running up with little baby Future and she’s dating Russell so it’s like, “Oh f–k.”

If they were to ask me to play “Tony Montana” I’d be like, get the hell out of here. If they ask me to play “Commas” or “Trap N—-s” or any of this type of [stuff], I’m playing that all day. It’s a weird balance—how do I play this and feel comfortable?

It’s a pretty interesting dynamic, especially considering the other team Billboard looked into was the Atlanta Falcons, Future’s hometown team, and the “Commas” rapper’s name wasn’t mentioned. Instead, Falcons DJ, DJ Jay Envy, pointed out that perennial Atlanta favorites Outkast and Young Dro often dominate, not to mention new standout Young Thug, who could probably do more than just soundtrack a Falcons practice one day.

Those players are just trying to start shit. Future’s album ain’t all that. Future’s “Same Damn Time” and “Shit” are his only true bangers. That’s why son got problems with label politics. He ain’t never had an album go platinum. Them dudes is jello because Wilson got his money and Chancellor didn’t. Many players in the Seahawk locker room are trying to make Wilson a target because they feel he’s a “house nigga.” It started with that bullshit a while back about him “not being black enough.” He got his money now and he’s running the show and they want to make him feel some type of way. At the end of the day, he’ll be the NFL Hall of Famer on that team and the rest of them field niggas will be shark food to however many owners they end up playing for in their careers. This is some bullshit…
