New Orleans RCA recording artist Dee-1 has released a new video titled “My Student Got Murdered”. The video tells the true story of one of Dee-1’s former Baton Rouge middle school students who was murdered by another one of his former students. He uses this personal narrative of the tragic teen murder to draw attention to increasing gun violence among teens and how it affects the entire community from the person murdered, to the young person who now becomes a part of the growing prison industrial complex to the family and community at large.

”My Student Got Murdered” is directed by Colin Pierce and is the latest single from, D’s Up, Dee-1’s debut EP on RCA, Inspiration. Dee-1 has received a great deal of attention for his unique story as a former middle school math teacher who has become a heralded hip-hop artist signed at a major label and generating significant buzz across the internet.
