It was going to take a lot to knock off The Weekend for the #1 spot on what’s currently an extremely contentious Billboard 100 chart, so all Adele did was turn in a record-breaking performance.

The British songstress now has the #1 song in the country, thanks to 1,112,000 downloads of “Hello” in the week ending Oct. 22, shattering the mark for most downloads sold in a week, previously held by Flo Rida‘s “Right Round” (636,000, Feb. 28, 2009).

Adele has added her fourth Hot 100 topper, following her first three from her last studio album, 21, which has sold 11.2 million copies in the United States: “Rolling in the Deep” (the year-end No. 1 of 2011), “Someone Like You” and “Set Fire to the Rain.”
